AIHA Alberta Local Section Issues

This section of the website will be devoted to providing information on issues affecting the Local Section and it’s members.

Such issues in the past have included Legal Recognition, AIHA National naming, etc.

ABIH Tightening of Certification Requirements
– Updated!

The Local Section has responded to the ABIH’s intention to tighten the CIH certification requirements. Read the letter.

The Use of Credit Cards in the Local Section
– Updated!

The Local Section is continuing on with the limited use of credit cards for renewal of membership fees and for purchase of spaces at the Spring Symposium. After reviewing the usage versus cost, the service does cost the Local Section money to maintain, but not substantial, and so it was felt appropriate to continue this service to members.

For those who have participated in the use of the online store – Thanks!

Regulatory Review

If you wish to have your voice heard in terms of regulatory review, please see the following page on the Alberta Workplace Health & Safety website. THIS LINK DOES NOT WORK

ACGIH Notice of Intended Change – H2S

The 2005 Spring Technical Session was on H2S and some of the potential issues around the ACGIH’s Notice of Intended Change to reduce the TLV for H2S to 1 ppm. An excellent session took place. We would like to hear from the membership on this matter. In the meantime, please see the Library for selected excerpts from Ian Drummond’s portion of the session.
